Did You Know...Chemicals are everywhere! They are used without our knowledge. They are harmful and damage our bodies, cells, organs and the environment. There are no regulations against using toxic or cancer causing chemicals in skin care products for people or animals. The FDA has approved certain chemicals but there are no guidelines for their use. As a result, many products contain multiple ingredients or large amounts of ingredients that can be toxic and harmful to the body’s systems and cells. Please be aware that many products labeled as “natural “ or “organic” can still contain harmful chemicals that can cause problems such as neurological symptoms, digestive problems, skin and hair problems, headaches and rashes. Manufacturers are not required to list all of the ingredients on their labels if the products are intended for topical use on animals.
Some dangerous chemical ingredients to avoid are: Parabens ( methyl, ethyl & butyl-), artificial colors & fragrance, chemical preservatives, and alcohols, Insecticides and pesticides of any kind. Even permethrin and organic pyrethrum from Chrysanthemums is still harmful and should not contact the skin or be inhaled. Read manufacturer's warning labels carefully. If it is hazardous to humans don’t use it on your horse either.
